Description
Andalusian (?), A4 Fabriano Bristol paper, Pastels & Pastel Pencils (with water) + watercolor + acrylics, Reference photo by Janina Suuronen at PMP (paintmyphoto.ning.com/)
Even though I've been doing art all my life, I never though of mixing different mediums together like this! I wonder why?! It was fun and I could use each medium on the area I find best suits it. Like watercolor for the smallest details and painting a light background etc. Also, I've never tried using pastels on as smooth surface as this. It was quite nice, though the paper didn't allow for much layering. This work finally killed my fixative too, I've been working with the same bottle of fixative for ages... And the worst thing is that I can't get a new one before my husband goes back to school after the Xmas holidays (and thus can get to the store where I bought the fixative). I've had some bad experiences with different brand fixatives and my pastels, so I really do want a new bottle of the exact same stuff I'm used to using... It doesn't ruin the colors or do any other nasty stuff...
I'm actually pretty happy about the background too! I like the murky colors, the horse is nice and bright and a little bit orange so I feel like the grayish brown clouds and the dark brownish grass suit it very well!
And the final point: Mixing water into your pastels is GREAT FUN!
