Arabian horse, little narrower than A4, Fabriano sketch paper, Winstor & Newton watercolors, Reference by :iconequinestockimagery:

I am so excited about this one! This might very well be my best watercolor so far! I'm very satisfied with the amount of detail and intensity of colors I was able to put on it. Watercolor is so beautiful medium - with it you can achieve so tiny little details and so large, evenly colored areas. And the colors themselves are awesome. I am so glad I decided to do something in watercolor and I am so glad I decided on this subject. I think the color of the fur and the golden tack just work so well together!

I know Fabriano sketch isn't the first choice for many what comes to watercolor paper... But during the years it has become my favourite one. It is the only smooth-surfaced paper that can hand reasonably handle water (my technique is rather dry) - and I want that smooth surface to able to paint as much details as possible. I hate rough-surfaced watercolor papers... But I guess I will have to get used to them someday...

Do not use any of my work without my written permission.

Haha, watercolor is very easy medium for details because you can use very thin brushes! Thanks <3!

This is literally my favorite thing ever. I'm so jealous of how talented you are (especially with such difficult mediums). You make everything so detailed and the colors seem so accurate!

Haha, thank you! I think watercolor is one of the best tools to work with when wanting very tiny little details. It just takes some time to learn to control the paint - if you add tons of water it will be all over the place if you are not careful. But I use it pretty dryish and love it because a brushtip can be a lot sharper than any pencil and that way it can be used to make those details. But also, you can use larger brush to cover larger areas very evenly, if you do it fast (so that the paint does not have time to dry).

Oh! You gotta try watercolor then! Just make a clean and detailed pencil sketch underneath with hard pencils (like 4H or something) and start from the lightest of light colors (because you can always go darker, but never lighter)! And make sure you have decent watercolors or you will just get very frustrated - because those meant for children won't be any good at all usually.

:) All worked with my tiny little brushes! That's the secret for details. And watercolors definitely can achieve awesome brightness - which is one of the reasons for me loving them!

Thank you for your nice comment <3! I appreciate it very much!
