A4 Coffee Painting, instant coffee, watercolor paper, reference image by:
NOTE: I will download a better picture of this painting soon. I'm going to scan it once it's dry . This version looks worse than the original, coffee seems to be very shiny on paper (it shines even when dry, looks wet even when completely dry)
EDIT// Yey, better scan updated!
So, I bought instant coffee some time ago, wanted to try out it as a painting medium. I only know remembered it, and of course I had to try at last! It was actually super fun painting in coffee, it's quite sticky, interesting medium... and it smells so nice (but yak if I tried to drink it, I hate coffee )! I guess my paintings will improve if I use more of this medium!
I'm quite worried about the lightfastness of coffee though . I'm not sure how well it will stand the test of time! I will be sure to scan my work for future prints, so that I won't loose it completely if the coffee fails me xD! We'll see. I think I'm going to hang this piece on my wall for few months just to test it! And I must say that I was using like the cheapest brand of instant coffee we found at our local supermarket, I'm not sure if it effects the painting quality. I would guess that coffee is always coffee, but one never knows .
I didn't find my smallest brushes for some reason, so the face and other detailing didn't go as well as I would have like them to. Also I think the medium limits you a bit, to get the darkest of dark coffee color I needed quite much liquids in one place - so things like the eye and the nostrils were quite hard to achieve! I'm satisfied though, I think coffee can give you reasonable amount of details (this is A4, remember), so I feel comfortable trying it again!

I love this! It is so beautiful! Once, I painted with coffee, but it did not come out anywhere this nice.
